Alexachase scored in a lifetime best 1:51.2 in Monday’s Mares Open Handicap pace at Dover Downs.

After setting a lifetime best clocking of 1:51.2 to win a winners-over pace, Alexachase stepped up to the top distaff pace of the week and found room in deep stretch to overtake battling leaders Monochromatic, the race favorite driven by Corey Callahan and Chancey Lady closing along the passing lane. Bret Brittingham flew through room between horses to power to a 1:51.2 victory. Only last month Brittingham drove the 4-year-old daughter of Bettor’s Delight-Jett Away to a 16-1 surprise. Johnny Waite trains Alexachase, which he owns with his wife Kimberley, who is named for his young daughter and son. Monochomatic nipped Chancey Lady for second. Alexachase won for the sixth time this season advancing her earnings to $60,710 this year.

In the $16,000 Filly and Mares Winners-Over pace, Montrell Teague drove No Bad Luck right to the front and never looked back en route to a 1:53 conquest, her sixth win of the year for owner-trainer George Teague. The victory was number six of the season giving the Badlands Hanover-Gee I’m Lucky 5-year-old earnings of $122,850 this year and $420,296 in her career. Shine N Shimmer (Eric Carlson) got up for second in front of Madges Lil Fortune (Ron Pierce).

The Meadows
Run And Tell Pap, who broke stride last week with victory in sight, had no problem holding the lead Monday at The Meadows when he drew off to a facile win in the $20,000 Preferred Trot. Run And Tell Pap used his quick speed to grab the early lead in each of his four most recent starts only to come away without a victory. He snapped that frustrating streak Monday when he seized the lead for Dave Palone and jogged home over a sloppy surface in 1:54.4, 2-3/4 lengths better than the ground-saving TSM Photo Bugger. Fox Valley Smarty was third. Ron Burke trains the 5-year-old High Falls-Adele’s Jade gelding, who now boasts $284,511 in career earnings, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and M1 Stable. It was one of five wins on the 14-race card for Palone.
