Progress Pace and Matron races top Sunday Dover card

Dover, DE — Dover Downs has a powerful stakes program on Sunday (Nov. 11) with a $35,000 preview for the Progress Pace and Matron Stakes elims or previews in seven classes for pacers and trotters.

The $35,000 Progress Pace preview is led by Ken Jacobs’ Heston Blue Chip, with driver Tim Tetrick. The winner of the recent $555,000 Breeders Crown leads seven starters including Brittany Farms and Val D’Or Farms’ Bettor’s Edge (David Miller) and million-dollar winner Sweet Lou, leaving from the rail with North America’s all-time dash-winning driver Dave Palone, racing for Weaver Bruscemi, Lawrence Karr, Phillip Collura and Burke Racing Stable.

Somwherovrarainbow (Montrell Teague), a daughter of Somebeachsomewhere-Rainbow Blue, drew the rail in the $53,550 Matron 2-year-old filly pace preview. She is looking for her fifth consecutive win for owners Ted Gewertz, K & R Racing and George Teague Jr. Inc. JFE Enterprise’s Handsoffmycupcake (Daniel Dube) and Ted Gewertz and Val D’Or Farms’ Somstreetsomwhere (Ron Pierce) head the opposition in the seven filly field.

Time To Kill (John Campbell), a $300,000 winner, leads the field in a $41,375 Matron 2-year-old filly trot preview. She will meet Royal Assets Stable and Ray Schnittker’s Royal Assests and recent Kindergarten Series winner Ma Chere Hall. Corey Callahan will drive the Joe Sbrocco, Walnut Hall Limited and Aldebaran Park Inc. filly in a select field of five.

In the $53,225 Matron freshman colt trot preview, Solvieg’s Breeders’ Dontyouforgetit (Yannick Gingras), a six-time winner with $337,837 in purses, is the one to beat. Ray Schnittker and Caveat Emptor and Noel Daley’s All Laid Out (Jim Raattray) are among the six starters.

Dedi’s Dragon (Yannick Gingras) racing for Phillip Collura, Tracy Hendler, Weaver Bruscemi and Burke Racing, must overcome post eight in a nine horse field of 2-year-old colt pacers going for a $55,325 purse in a Matron elimination. Ed Gold’s Bet The Moon (David Miller), Robert Key’s Twilight Bonfire (Ron Pierce) and Sir Richard Z Tam for M & M Harness Racing, Ira Roseblum and trainer-driver Pat Lachance are among the challengers.

Bob Key’s Win Missy B (Ron Pierce), Superstar Hanover, owned by Louie Camara, Christina Takter and John Fielding, Personal Style (David Miller), racing for Mel Hartman and Brittany Fams, and Kristins Victory, owned and driven by Steve Smith, are among nine starters in a $49,800 3-year-old filly trot Matron elimination.

Richard Hans’ Googoo Gaagaa and driver Corey Callahan take on eight rivals in the $46,813 Matron 3-year-old colt trot elimination. Christina Takter, John and Jim Fielding and Brittany Farms’ Little Brown Fox (Yannick Gingras) and Guccio (Jimmy Takter) racing for Christina Takter, John and Jim Fielding and Falkbolagen AB, are contenders among the nine entered.

The $41,313 Matron 3-year-old filly pace elimination also drew a field of nine. Darena Hanover drew the rail for driver Yannick Gingras and owner Burke Racing Stable. Among her challengers will be Shelliscape, with John Campbell driving for owners Robert McIntosh Stables. C S X Stables and DM Stables.

The top eight in each of the Matron eliminations will advance to the Nov. 18 finals.
