Washington, PA — The live card at The Meadows on Friday (Sept. 7) figured to be plenty exciting, as it features all four Pennsylvania Sires Stake championships — each worth $200,000 — for 2-year-olds.

Now, The Meadows, in association with the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association, is enhancing the excitement by adding four $50,000 Invitational events to the card. The Invitationals will feature trotting mares, pacing mares, trotting colts and geldings and pacing colts and geldings. Preference will be given to Pennsylvania-owned or –sired horses.

With the four championships, four consolations, four Invitationals and several overnight events, the Sept. 7 program will offer purses in excess of $1.1 million, said Mike Jeannot, president of Meadows Racing.

“It will be a great night for our fans, who will enjoy many compelling races with first-class competition, and for horsemen, who will be racing for lucrative purses. We appreciate the cooperation of MSOA in making this thrilling night possible.”

Horsemen planning to drop in the Invitationals, as well as those with any questions, are invited to call The Meadows Race Office (724.225.9897). First post Sept. 7 is 6:55 p.m.
