Campbellville, ON — It was a good night at the office for driver Sylvain Filion as he captured the C$50,000 Dream Maker Pacing Series final and both C$20,000 opening round divisions of the Bridger Trotting Series on Monday evening (July 30) at Mohawk.

In the Dream Maker final, Filion scored with the Richard Moreau-trained Evenin Of Pleasure.

Evenin Of Pleasure was a 1:52.2 winner in the Dream Maker final.

After Lucan Hanover (Brian Sears) clocked the opening panel in :27.2, Evenin Of Pleasure made a bid for the lead from the two hole at the three-eighths marker. The 7-5 favorite cleared before the half in :55.3 and then clocked the three-quarters in 1:24.3 before getting under the wire in a new mark of 1:52.2. Dress The Part (Randy Waples) was beaten by one length and Captive Audience (Billy Davis, Jr.) finished third.

“He felt so good,” said Filion from the paddock. “I thought if I could control the pace I had a better shot. He was so good. Once I cleared to the front, there was no way that they were going to go by me. I could have stayed there (in the pocket); I just went on the safe side.”

The 2-year-old son of Dragon Again-Armbro Amour is two-for-three this year with $41,261 in earnings for owner Gestion Jean Yves Blais. Evenin of Pleasure paid $4.80 to win.

Filion also scored with a pair of 2-year-old trotters in their respective opening round divisions of the Bridger Series.

Wheeling N Dealin survived a first-over journey to win by 4-1/4 lengths in the first dash for trainer Dustin Jones.

The son of Cantab Hall-Quick Credit got away fourth and was on the move into the backstretch. He cleared to the lead after the 6-5 bettors’ choice, Kinetic King (Roger Mayotte), cut the first quarter in :29.1 and the half in 1:00. Wheeling N Dealin held command past the three-quarters in 1:28.2 and got under the wire in a new mark of 1:57.2. Theatrical Session (Trevor Ritchie) and Kinetic King finished second and third, respectively.

Wheeling N Dealin is now two-for-two in his debut season with $18,820 in earnings for Ecurie Synergie. The colt paid $5.90 to win as the second choice.

Filion then captured the second Bridger dash with first-time starter Winbak Sullivan.

The Richard ‘Nifty’ Norman trainee sat in the pocket spot behind Hobsons Choice (Randy Waples), who put up fractions of :29.1, 1:00.2 and 1:30.1. At the head of the lane, Filion fed the son of Angus Hall-Marie E Hanover open racetrack and he tracked down the tempo-setter to score the 1-1/2 length victory in 1:59. Hobsons Choice finished second and Shimmering Crown (Scott Coulter) was third.

Winbak Sullivan is owned by Enzed Racing Stable Inc. The gelding paid $8.90 to win.

The C$30,000 second leg is scheduled for Thursday (August 9), with the C$50,000 final slated for Monday (August 20).

State Treasurer romps in Summertime final

State Treasurer delivered as the heavy favorite in the C$60,000 Summertime Pacing Series final on Monday evening at Mohawk. Driver Tyler Moore guided the 3-year-old colt to the winner’s circle for his father, trainer Dr. Ian Moore.

State Treasurer sat third along the rail as Twin B Impressive (Sylvain Filion) clocked the :26.4 opening panel, but as soon as the field of sophomores entered the backstretch, the 1-5 favorite was on the move. State Treasurer cleared to the lead, taking the group of 10 to the midway point in :55.1 and then the three-quarters in 1:23.

The son of Real Desire-Ideal Treasure, who also romped in his second leg division, used a :27 final frame to return to victory lane, notching his fifth win of the season in a career-best performance of 1:50. Twin B Impressive was beaten by 3-1/4 lengths and Long Live Rock (Rick Zeron) finished third.

“Once I got to the front, the horse settled down really nice and he actually relaxed for me a little bit,” said Tyler Moore after the win. “He waited for them to come and when they did come, he had a ton of gear left for them so I felt good.”

With the win, State Treasurer scored his sixth triumph in 19 lifetime starts and lifted his career earnings to $240,293. The colt is owned by Sally MacDonald and Sophie MacDonald. He returned $2.70 to win.
