Southwind to host 4H kids

by Laura Young, for Southwind Farms

Pennington, NJ — On Tuesday (July 3) between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Southwind Farm in Pennington, N.J., will be hosting about 30-40 kids from local 4H clubs.

We will be showing the kids everything from ultrasounding mares to harvesting hay. These kids are our future and the more farms and horse related facilities they see the more chances we have of surviving as an industry.

We will be handing out all the literature that the USTA provided to us, from posters explaining gait differences to a college directory just for kids interested in horses.

When kids visit the farm their jaws drop at the sheer beauty. They can’t believe we do everything ourselves, in house. It really opens up new oppurtunities for them.

We at Southwind are always excited to give facility tours, especially to kids. Last year we had over 200 visitors come through. I give lectures and tours about our business anytime I can, mostly to people that know nothing about us. If it draws one new client to a local trainer or one new better at the Meadowlands, it’s worth it.
