July 2, 2012,by Mike Sardella, for Saratoga Casino and Raceway
Saratoga Springs, NY — The fillies and mares took center stage on Sunday afternoon (July 1) at Saratoga Casino and Raceway and the $18,500 Open for the ladies was a good one.
Invader Synergy Seelster (Mach Three) made her local debut a winning one, enduring a first over journey to prevail for trainer Mark Ford and driver Billy Dobson. The 4-year-old mare moved her lifetime earnings to over the $200,000 mark with the win which came in 1:54.1.
Synergy Seelster whittled away the lead of front running favorite I’m Just Special before getting the best of her in the stretch. I’m Just Special (Greg Merton) held second while Bell On Wheels (Harry Landy) grabbed third.
Live racing resumes on Tuesday evening (July 3) with a first post time of 5 p.m. with fireworks to follow.
