Stand Tall named Ohio’s best

by Dean A. Hoffman

Columbus, OH — Stand Tall, a 4-year-old pacing gelding that went unbeaten in four starts in May, was voted Ohio Horse of the Month by members of the Ohio chapter of the U.S. Harness Writers Association.

Not only was Stand Tall unbeaten, but no horse got closer than a length to him at the finish in each of his starts in May.

He won by two lengths at Lebanon in early May, then moved to Raceway Park where he won by margins of two, one, and 6-1/2 lengths. In each of his victories, he either matched or lowered his lifetime record.

The son of Stand Forever is trained and driven by Mike Polhamus. He is owned by David Bodenmiller of Troy, Ohio, who bought him as a yearling. This is Stand Tall’s first season at the races.

His success in Ohio has carried over to Indiana as he recently won at Hoosier Park, taking a new 1:54.2 mark there.
