Hamburg, NY — Two divisions of New York Sire Stakes races for 3-year-old colt trotters highlight the Father’s Day card at Buffalo Raceway on Sunday afternoon (June 17). First post is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. (EDT).

In the first division, race five ($70,008), Delano (Ray Schnittker), who last year won six races and $194,960, will be one of the main dangers. With a win and a second in three races this year, this Credit Winner offspring drew post two and has tons of early speed, which is very advantageous on Hamburg’s half-mile oval.

The 2-1 morning line favorite is War Cry Hall (Cash Hall-Winners Only), trained by Ron Burke and driven by the king of New York Sire Stakes races, Jim Morrill, Jr. War Cry Hall will be leaving from the pylons in the field of six and finished a respectable third in last week’s $233,250 Empire Breeders Classic at Vernon Downs.

In the second division, race seven ($70,008), Archangel (Credit Winner-Michelle’s Angel) looks to make it five wins in a row this year, with Jim Morrill, Jr. in the sulky. The 5-2 morning line favorite is leaving from post three and is trained by Peter Arrigenna. Archangel won the Empire Breeders Classic last week in track record time at Vernon in 1:53.1. He has four wins and one second in five races this year, and has put $154,108 in the bank.

Also with a good chance of hitting the board is (2) New York Attitude (Cash Hall-Four Starz Nanny), trained by John Hallett and driven by Jeff Gregory. In seven races this year, New York Attitude has two wins and four thirds with a 1:55 best time at Vernon on May 25.

Also on tap for Sunday are four Excelsior Stake races worth $12,600-$12,700 each.
