Columbus, OH — The USTA is now offering a rider’s license to participate in racing under saddle events.

In order to become a licensed rider, you must have a current USTA membership and satisfactorily complete both a written and practical examination. The practical exam shall consist of the rider trotting a workout mile in front of the judges in 2:25 or less using the starting gate.

Requiring each rider to become licensed allows race sponsors to better regulate racing under saddle events and to meet any possible licensing requirements of the individual racing commissions.
