Saratoga Springs, NY — Age Of Consent won in upset fashion in Sunday’s pacing feature at Saratoga Casino and Raceway and matched a track record in the process.

Age Of Consent tied the track record for older pacing mares.

Jim Devaux piloted the Kevin Hough trainee who got away last in the $18,500 Open for fillies and mares. After blistering fractions of :26.4, :55.1 and 1:23.3 set the table for the closers, the backfield was in motion and Age Of Consent (Real Desire) made her move.

Fanning to the far outside around the final turn, Age Of Consent sprinted home in the stretch and completed her swoop of the group, stopping the timer in 1:53.1. Leanback Coco (Brett Crawford) finished second in the feature while Slomotion (Billy Dobson) held on for third.

The win time tied the track record for older pacing mares as Age Of Consent matched the times of Sentbytheangels and Golden Ace from previous years.

The victory for the 7-year-old mare came at odds of 54-1 and led a trifecta that was the largest of the season at the Spa, paying $17,235.

Live racing continues on Monday afternoon with a Memorial Day matinee set to begin at 12:45 p.m.

Tioga Downs
Future Character (Rick Dane, Jr.) parlayed a first over grind into an Open pace Pictory on Sunday night at Tioga Downs. Leaving from post position four in a field of six, Future Character got away fifth and began the first over journey as the field reached the half-mile in :55.3. Last week’s Open winner Vlos (Fern Paquet, Jr.) was on the front, but offered little resistance to the first over threat as the field reached three-quarters in 1:23. Around the final turn Future Character and Dane cleared to the lead and opened up on the field to score in a seasonal best of 1:52. It was the second win of the season for the 8-year-old son of Shady Character–Red Sea for the Rock & Roll Stable. Hay Goodlooking (Rick Plano) found room late to get up for second, while Sheer Brilliance (Jim Taggart, Jr.) was third. Dan Noble posted a driving grand slam on the night’s 12-race card, while Corey Braden enjoyed a double.
