USTA seeks new Registrar

Columbus, OH — The United States Trotting Association in Columbus, Ohio, is looking for a new Registrar to lead the organization’s Registration Department.

The Registrar is responsible for the registration process of Standardbred horses with the USTA.

In addition to registering foals and the transfer of ownership for all horses under the jurisdiction of the USTA, the primary responsibilities include: registration of imported Standardbreds as well as horses into the Full Circle and Pleasure Horse Registry programs, processing of export certificates, DNA parentage verification, and recording leases and liens.

As a member of the USTA’s managerial staff, the Registrar will work directly with USTA members and customers as well as other USTA departments to problem solve any disputes as they relate to the horse registration process and other departmental functions.

Also, the Registrar will act as Liaison with USTA Board of Directors Registration-Owners/Breeders Committee and represent the USTA on industry-related organizations and committees.

Other duties include supervision and annual evaluation of the Assistant Registrar, and assistance with horse identification.

Candidates must have demonstrated managerial experience and financial oversight responsibility as well as a successful history of development and execution of initiatives within a diverse work environment.

In addition, applicants should possess strong leadership qualities with excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work well with others while staying calm under internal and external pressures.

A working knowledge of the racing and/or breeding industry and a four-year college degree are preferred.
