by Dean A. Hoffman

Columbus, OH — Elegant Mystique, a 4-year-old pacing mare unbeaten in the month of March, was voted Ohio Horse of the Month by members of the Ohio chapter of the U.S. Harness Writers Association.

All of her victories came at Northfield Park and Kurt Sugg was the winning driver for trainer Ron Steck, who co-owns the mare with Letha Brooks and Henry J. Ruppell, all of Ohio.

Coming into this season, Elegant Mystique had won only once in 23 starts. After winning four races in March, the fastest in 1:56.3, she started April with another win at Northfield, this one in 1:56.

She has finished second in her last two starts, giving her five wins and two seconds in seven starts this season. She has earned $6,800 in 2012.

The daughter of Cambest was bred by Daniel Considine of Lexington, Ky., and she is a sister to My Old Friend John p,4,1:51.1f ($264,700).
