Toronto, ON — An elite group of 64 horses remain eligible to the 29th edition of the C$1.5 million Pepsi North America Cup, one of harness racing’s most prestigious events.
Headlining this year’s talented group is Sweet Lou, who captured the 2011 Breeders Crown and recorded the fastest mile in history for a freshman pacer, courtesy of his 1:49 speed badge. The son of Yankee Cruiser-Sweet Future finished off his rookie campaign with a 10-2-0 record from 12 appearances and $686,647 in earnings.
A Rocknroll Dance, the richest freshman pacing colt last season with $863,325 in earnings, sporting a record of 7-3-0 from 11 starts, is also on the list and is one of the early favorites for the race.
The Pepsi North America Cup eliminations are set for Saturday, June 9. Two more sustaining payments will be due on April 15 and May 15.
