Toronto, ON — An impressive group of 76 horses have been nominated to the 29th edition of the C$1.5 million Pepsi North America Cup, one of harness racing’s most prestigious events, set for Saturday (June 16) at Mohawk Racetrack.

Headlining this year’s group of nominees is 2011 O’Brien Award 2-year-old champion Warrawee Needy. The Carl Jamieson trainee won nine of 12 races, with $536,950 earned in his rookie season.

Sweet Lou, the 2011 Breeders Crown champion and fastest 2-year-old in history courtesy of his 1:49 speed badge, is also on the list and is one of the early favorites for the race.

A Rocknroll Dance, the richest 2-year-old pacing colt on the continent in 2011 with $863,325 in earnings, is also nominated.

Also named is Simply Business, who rocketed to a 1:50.1 mark at Mohawk Racetrack when capturing the highly regarded $1,020,000 Metro Pace.

The Pepsi North America Cup eliminations are set for Saturday (June 9).
