Toronto, ON — In the opening leg of the Damsel Pacing Series, Oceans Motion and driver Jody Jamieson clocked the fastest division on Friday evening (Feb. 24) at Woodbine Racetrack.

In the third and final C$30,000 division, Oceans Motion came from off the pace to notch a hard-fought victory over post time favorite Ole Miss in 1:54.1.

Oceans Motion was a 1:54.1 winner in the fastest Damsel Series division.

Ole Miss (Billy Davis, Jr.) cleared to the lead past the opening panel in :28.2, set by Mach Dismissal (Anthony MacDonald). Ole Miss would lead her eight rivals past the midway point in :58 and three-quarters in 1:26.3.

Jamieson would guide the 8-5 second choice first-over from fourth past the half and was within 1-3/4 lengths of Ole Miss at the top of the stretch. The pair would separate themselves from the rest of the field, but Oceans Motion would best Ole Miss in the final strides, scoring a half-length victory. Synergy Seelster (Doug McNair) finished third.

Trained by Casie Coleman and owned by Robert Lovett, Oceans Motion notched her second victory in 2012 from six starts, which lifts her career earnings to C$190,898. She paid $5.40 to win.

Jolting Kate, driven by Scott Zeron, scored in gate-to-wire fashion in the opening division, stopping the clock in 1:55.3.

The 4-year-old daughter of Village Jolt cleared past the opening panel in :27.1, marched by the half in :56 and three-quarters in 1:24.1, before scoring a 2-1/2 length victory. Three Charms (Chris Christoforou) finished second with Miss Sand Creek (Paul MacDonell) coming from off the pace to finish third.

Jolting Kate, the even-money favorite, enjoyed her seventh career victory for owners Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi. The bay celebrated her first victory in 2012 from five tries as her bankroll increased to C$136,260 for trainer David Menary.

Fresh off her 1:53.3 career best win in her most recent outing, Bee Fullof Steinam found the winner’s circle once again as she captured the second division in 1:55.4 for driver Paul MacDonell.

The 4-year-old daughter of Life Sign sat fourth past the opening panel in :29.2, before brushing to the lead before the midway point. The miss would then pass the half in :58.4 and three-quarters in 1:26.4, before MacDonell guided her to a comfortable 4-1/2 length victory. Rock For Glory (Scott Zeron) finished second with D Gs Tinkerbell (Luc Ouellette) completing the triactor.

Bee Fullof Steinam celebrated her eighth career victory for trainer Dean Nixon and owners Michael Timpano, ICR Racing and Anthony Leber. The bay increased her lifetime earnings to C$68,680. She paid $6.30 to win.

The Damsel Pacing Series is for 4- and 5-year-old mares who are non-winners of C$150,000 lifetime as of Dec. 31, 2011. The C$40,000 second leg will be contested on Friday (March 2), with the $C100,000 final set for Saturday (March 10).
