Farm manager Stacey Ruddick noted, “Many people would rather have a colt. However, given the good fillies on both sides of the pedigree, we are pleased to have a filly from this mare.”
The bay filly is out of Divino Amore, a Conway Hall sister to Seducer Hall 2,1:56.3 ($134,227) dam of Seducedbychocolate 2,1:56.4s; 3,1:54.3-’11 ($174,558).
Mr Cantab is a son of Cantab Hall 3,1:54 ($1,442,303) out of the Joie De Vie mare Miss Marita. Mr Cantab was the highest priced yearling colt sold at auction in 2007 with a price of $350,000 at the Lexington Selected Sale. He was bred by Brittany Farms and trained by Erv Miller. He won six of 12 starts at 2 and 3 and was a winner in 1:53.3.
Standing at Hoosier Standardbred Farm in Montgomery, Ind., for a fee of $3,000, Mr Cantab bred a full book of mares in his first season at stud. He is owned by the Mr Cantab Syndicate and managed by Hoosier Hoofprints.
