Trouble, Connie Lauxmont win in opening round of Singer Series

East Rutherford, NJ — Trouble and Connie Lauxmont won their respective $12,500 divisions in the first leg of the Charles Singer Memorial Trotting Series for 3-year-olds on Thursday night (Feb. 16) at Meadowlands Racetrack.

Trouble was a 1:58.1 winner in the fastest division of the Singer Series.

Trouble, a son of Conway Hall-Anna Karin’s Girl, owned by Andy Miller Stable Inc. and George Brennan Inc., came first over at the three-quarter pole and wore down leader Not Afraid in the stretch to post a half-length victory in a time of 1:58.1. Kingstone finished third.

Trained by Julie Miller and driven by Andy Miller, Trouble ($12.00) scored for the first time in five lifetime starts and lifted his career bankroll to $9,860. He was purchased by his current connections last fall at the Harrisburg Mixed Sale for $29,000 after selling as a yearling for $65,000 in 2010.

Brian Sears piloted Connie Lauxmont to a 1:59 score in their Singer split.

In the second division of the Singer Series, James and Carol Atkinson’s Connie Lauxmont ran his winning streak to four with a 1:59 victory for driver Brian Sears.

Trained by co-owner James Atkinson, the son of Conway Hall-Lady Law overcame being interfered with at the opening quarter to defeat Man’s Treasure by 1-1/4 lengths. White Russian finished third.

Connie Lauxmont paid $3.60 to win in recording his fifth win in 14 lifetime starts. He has now banked $46,932 in his career.
