Standardbreds needed for Strawberry Festival

Columbus, OH — The West Virginia Strawberry Festival Association, Inc. is looking for entrants for their horse and carriage parade on May 12, 2012 at 5 p.m. in Buckhannon, W.Va. The 71st annual Strawberry Festival is a five day festival held to honor the state’s growers.

Brad Kellison is in charge of recruiting horses for the parade and is specifically looking for some Standardbreds. They are hoping to get two-three Standardbred entries, either in traditional racing dress (jog cart or race bike) or in a carriage or other pleasure driving vehicle.

Cash prizes totaling $2,000 and other trophies and ribbons will be awarded and drawn for.

The application for the Horse & Carriage Parade is available here and due by April 1, 2012.

Hotel accommodations are available nearby as well as at the West Virginia Wesleyan College dormitories (for a low $20/night). Meals are also available at the college for $21.50/day (three meals included).
