Pennacchio wins Florida Amateur Drivers Club race

from the Florida Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association

Pompano Beach, FL — Florida Amateur Drivers Club members performed in their ninth amateur trot event on Saturday night (Dec. 17) at Pompano Park and it produced the first fall-winter win for Joe Pennacchio, driving his own Mr Taurus to a come from behind, 2:01.4f score.

The ultra-consistent resident of Highland Beach, Fla., has posted a 1-3-1 slate in six FADC starts this meet, with a fourth in the other drive.

Trained by Jim McDonald, Mr Taurus is equally dependable. The 7-year-old gelded son of Sir Taurus has been on the board in 20 of 31 starts in 2011 with earnings of $19,562. The veteran trotter, from the good producing Joie De Vie mare Patti Lee Brook, now has earnings of $107,361 and a lifetime speed badge of 1:57f. He is a half-brother to the $322,324 winner Derby’s Goal.

FADC drivers again demonstrated their competitiveness as seven different drivers have won in the nine events at the meet. Jamie Marra and Thomas Santeramo remain the only two-time winners.

Be sure to be on hand for FADC racing action and offer thanks to the members who donate their drivers’ winnings to charities. FADC has now donated more than $100,000 to largely equine charities.
