Florida Amateur Drivers Club lights the board

from the Florida Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association

Pompano Beach, FL — Florida Amateur Drivers Club members took part in their eighth amateur trot event Saturday night (Dec. 10) at Pompano Park and what a race it was.

Thomas Santeramo notched his second FADC victory, driving veteran Phipps to a 2:01.1 score at 55-1 odds over last week’s winner Imahonkyconchman and Jamie Marra.

Santeramo has been on the board in all three of his FADC starts and he and Marra are the only two-time FADC winners this fall at Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park.

Phipps, who has a mark of 1:56 and lifetime earnings of $265,517, recorded his 50th lifetime win from 283 starts. The former leading Open trotter in California is a son of SJ’s Photo-Mazie Minor-Rule The Wind, bred by Walnut Hall Stock Farm’s Katherine M. and Dr. James Sautter.

Be sure to be on hand Saturday nights for the FADC festivities and say thanks to the members who donate their drivers’ winnings to local charities.

This past Saturday evening also featured Pompano Park’s bi-weekly food extravaganza and railbird seating. Patrons were offered the opportunity to wager free on the competitive race 3 Open Pace using $2 betting vouchers supplied by track management. Those cashing winning tickets took part in the winner’s circle ceremony and will receive a win picture from the track. Patrons were excited about the opportunity to wager free and to learn how to handicap and bet on harness racing.
