Rose Konesky, 91, dies

Columbus, OH — Rose Konesky, 91, died Dec. 7, 2011.

Mrs. Konesky was born June 10, 1920, to Andrew and Rose (Mackovic) Minarcin. She graduated from Rossford High School in 1938 and was a member of the National Honor Society. She worked for the Rossford Post Office for 8-1/2 years.

She married John Konesky, Jr. on February 23, 1946. Together they owned and trained Standardbred for many years and were members of the USTA, Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association and the American Czech and Slovak Dance Club.

They were inducted into the Northwestern Ohio Colt Racing Association Hall of Fame in 2000.

Mrs. Konesky was also a gymnast in the Slovak Gymnastics Union Sokol and was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Sodality in Gibsonburg, Ohio.

She is survived by her children, John A. III and Roseann Ward; grandchildren, Patrick (Wesley), Vonda Ward and Stacy (Jacob) Baxter; great-grandchildren, Mason, Colin Baxter and A.J. Baxter; and brother, Thomas (Pat) Minarcin. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Edward; sisters, Agnes (Anthony) Pastorek, Cecelia (Neil) Patton, and Ethel (Joseph) Ziemianski; daughter-in-law, Maryann; and granddaughter, Jennifer.

The family will receive friends one hour before a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Dec. 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. There will be a bereavement luncheon served at the church immediately following the funeral services. Interment will be private in Westwood Cemetery, Woodville, Ohio. Arrangements are entrusted to the Marsh Funeral Home, Pemberville, Ohio.
