Northwestern Ohio Colt Racing Assc holds awards banquet

The Northwestern Ohio Colt Racing Association held its annual awards banquet on Saturday, November 19, at the American Legion Hall in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio. 178 people enjoyed the evening of food, fun, and fellowship.

Bob Ketner and Bill Webb were inducted into the Northwestern Ohio Colt Racing Association Hall of Fame in the driver/trainer category. Max Shaw was admitted in the owner category, while the late Lamar Overmyer and Jim Walter were inducted in the official/director category. The outstanding pacer, Threetimer, entered the Hall of Fame in the horse category.

The champion colts and fillies to receive awards were as follows: Tatas Flash, Jess Perfect, Arizona Dawn, Nanner, Friskie D, Lofty Jessica, Our Little Filly, and Justabout. Runner-up honors went to the following colts and fillies: Justin’s Boy, Jesse’s Touch, KR’s Cruiser, Just Plain Jesse, Frisky’s Melody, Lil Train, Eckley Lane Emily, and Lima Silk.

Cadillac Coop took top honors as the leading trotting-bred pacer in the circuit, while Jandi Star & Stripe was the circuit’s outstanding trotting-bred trotter.

Mark Headworth repeated as the winner of the Sharon Double Memorial Award as the top driver in the circuit, and John Konesky III took home the Jay Volkert Memorial Award as the circuit’s leading trainer. Cole Fitzwater was the recipient of the inaugural honoring of the Outstanding Youth Award.
