Appointments made to Indiana Standardbred industry

by Jessica Barnes, director of racing & breed development, Indiana Horse Racing Commission

Indianapolis, IN — Governor Mitch Daniels has appointed Scott Snyder to serve on the Standardbred Breed Development Advisory Committee and Faron Parr to serve on the Standardbred Advisory Board.

A lifelong Standardbred industry participant, Scott Snyder has been serving on the Standardbred Advisory Board since 2002, acting as its chairman for the past four years. Snyder’s past involvement in the Standardbred industry included working for Hall of Fame trainer Doug Ackerman, serving as the long-time manager of Viking Meadows Farm, and as an active owner and breeder.

Faron Parr has been actively involved in the Standardbred racing industry, participating as a breeder and owner since 2005, but has had an interest and love of the sport since a child. Parr, a lifelong Jay County resident, owns and operates a local business in Portland, in addition to the 30 head of horses he currently owns.

Both the Standardbred Breed Development Advisory Committee and Advisory Board work in cooperation with Hoosier Park, Indiana Downs, and the Indiana Standardbred Association to ensure the continued development of the Standardbred racing program by making annual recommendations to the Indiana Horse Racing Commission.
