Undefeated Market Share wins NJSS Green Acres Championship

by Leon Zimmerman, for the New Jersey Sire Stakes

Freehold, NJ — Market Share continued undefeated on Friday (Oct. 7) in setting a 1:58.4 record in winning the $25,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Green Acres Championship for 2-year-old trotting colts at Freehold Raceway.

The son of Revenue S-Classical Flirt led from start to finish to win by 6-1/2 lengths over Map Of Hawaii (Chocolatier-Keystone Vi Va). Markz Moose (Classic Photo-Angelique Hanover) was third.

Jeff Gregory drove Market Share for trainer Linda Toscano and co-owners Richard Gutnick and Gary Cocco.

The freshman trotter registered his fourth consecutive victory in as many starts, all in the Sire Stakes Green Acres racing program. His 1:58.4 clocking erased the previous Green Acres mark of 1:59.2 set by Lou’s Legacy in 2008. The $12,500 winer’s share of the purse boosted the colt’s earnings to $23,750 this year.
