Monticello, NY — Besides its usual Monday through Thursday race schedule during the month of July, Monticello Raceway, with the permission of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board, will add a live racing program on Saturday night, July 2.

Post time for that race card will be at 7:30 p.m.

On that evening the Raceway will stage its 42nd annual fireworks extravaganza after the races. The fireworks always attract a huge crowd but this year the fans will also be treated to the $175,000 New York Sire Stakes for 2-year-old trotting colts and geldings which will be featured on the racing program.

“The fireworks show, which is always the biggest and best in Sullivan County, will be presented approximately 15 minutes after the racing program ends on Saturday night, July 2,” said Shawn Wiles, the Raceway’s Assistant General Manager. “And since there is free admission to the entire facility it’s a great opportunity to come and see the fireworks close-up on the track’s apron where the best view is afforded.”

Besides the exciting racing and the fabulous fireworks display, fans 18 years and older can also enjoy the video gaming machines and the nightly entertainment at Monticello Casino & Raceway.
