Campbellville, ON — As expected, Crys Dream and driver Luc Ouellette made it look easy in the C$519,000 Elegantimage Stakes for 3-year-old filly trotters on Saturday (June 18) at Mohawk Racetrack, part of the undercard on Pepsi North America Cup night.

Crys Dream and Lue Ouellette were victorious in a stakes record 1:53.2 in the Elegantimage.

The daughter of Taurus Dream, sent postward a prohibitive 1-5 favorite, coasted home by an effortless 2-1/2 lengths in a stakes record 1:53.2. Beatgoeson Hanover got up for second, while Lady Rainbow was third.

It was the fourth win in four starts this year for Crys Dream, and her 11th career victory in 12 outings, with her only defeat coming last summer in her second start. Since then, she’s wracked up 10 wins in a row and has now earned more than C$925,000 after Saturday night’s C$259,500 pot.

Longshot Eagle Canada made the early pace, taking the field through an opening quarter in :27.3 and the half in :57.1. But Crys Dream, sitting a patient third, pulled heading to the far turn and swallowed the leader turning into the stretch, as the three-quarters was reached in 1:25.3. Under a snug hold from Ouellette, Crys Dream then floated to the wire under wraps.

Trained by Henrik Hollsten, Crys Dream had captured one of the two Elegantimage elims last week in 1:55.1, while Beatgoeson Hanover had taken the other in 1:54.4. In her previous start, Crys Dream had romped in the Casual Breeze.

Crys Dream paid $2.70, $2.10 and $2.10, combining with Beatsgoeson Hanover ($3.50, $2.60) for a $7.10 (4-2) exactor. A 4-2-3 (Lady Rainbow, $3.90) triactor was worth $25.50, while a $1 superfecta (4-2-3-10 – Lukes Sophie) came back $39.40.
