Mississauga, ON — Former harness racing industry participant Richard P. Heffering, 58, of Greenwich, Conn., died June 17, 2011, after suffering a brain aneurysm.

Mr. Heffering is the son of Canadian Hall of Famer R. Peter Heffering and brother of David Heffering of Tara Hills Stud Farm fame.

He previously owned horses such as Giant Mermaid and Lifelong Victory and was also the listed breeder of 2001 Hambletonian winner Scarlet Knight.

Survived by his wife, Marcia, Mr. Heffering will be remembered with a private family service as per his wishes.
