Campbellville, ON — Talk about getting out of the gates in great fashion.

Brent MacGrath was on hand this past Saturday at Mohawk.

This past Saturday (June 4) marked the initial edition of the Somebeachsomewhere Stakes (previously called the Burlington Stakes) at Mohawk Racetrack.

The Pepsi North America Cup prep race was renamed in honor of the great Somebeachsomewhere, who was trained and co-owned by Brent MacGrath.

Somebeachsomewhere, Canada’s Horse of the Year in both 2007 and 2008, kicked off his outstanding 3-year-old campaign with a tour de force victory in the Burlington in 2008.

A resident of Bible Hill, Nova Scotia, MacGrath was on hand this past Saturday for the winner’s circle festivities.
