Go On BB keeps going at Hoosier Park

Anderson, IN — Anyone that thought Go On BB was headed to the brood mare ranks following last season is quickly being silenced. The 7-year-old daughter of Dontgetinmyway is now three for three at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino in 2011 and continuing to dominate the top class of female pacers on the property.

Go On BB won the Fillies & Mares Open on Friday night at Hoosier Park in 1:52.

After winning last week’s $24,000 Fillies and Mares Open Pace by five lengths, Go On BB was handicapped to the outside post nine in the 9-horse lineup. Driver Ricky Macomber wasted little time getting her to the front of the race, leading the way from the start to post the first quarter in :27.3. Go On BB continued to lead the way through middle fractions of :56.2 and 1:24.2, knowing that Sugar Nips and Mark Evers were tracking every stride she took heading into the lane.

In the stretch, Go On BB found another gear and held her ground, coasting under the wire with a :27.3 final panel to win in a time of 1:52.0. Sugar Nips held strong for second over Forever Showin Off and Charlie Conrad, who also tracked the top two the entire mile for third.

“This is my favorite horse to drive,” said Macomber, who has driven her to almost all of her Indiana wins. “She gives you 100% every time she races. She’s just all class.”

Go On BB now has more than $1.24 million in career earnings for owner Frank Baldachino of Clarksburg, NJ. Her career record of 1:50 was established as a 4-year-old at The Meadows. Ron Burke has trained the tough race mare every step of the way, purchasing her as a yearling. Go On BB now has a total of 61 wins in 132 career starts and is Indiana’s richest female of all time.

Tioga Downs
All Spirit returned to her winning ways Friday night at Tioga Downs in the $16,500 fillies and mares open handicap pace. The 5-year-old daughter of Bettor’s Delight – Spirit Of Ivy used her usual tactics to come from off the pace and catch a second-over trip through a half in 56.2. As the field reached three-quarters Pure Desire and Greg Merton were still in command in 1:24.3 but Marohn decided it was go time and tipped All Spirit three-wide and in seconds circled the field. Down the stretch it wasn’t a matter of if, but by how many that was the only question left for All Spirit who stopped the tele-timer in 1:53, equaling her seasonal best. It was the third win in eight starts for All Spirit who is trained by Judy Lanpher for Larry Lanpher of Winter Park, FL. Leanback Coco and Phil Fluet hung on for second despite the first-over trip, while Hello Great Mate and Lewayne Miller closed late for third.

Scioto Downs
Ohio Hall of Famer Chip Noble knows that the front end is the place to be if you have the best horse, and that’s exactly where he put Ocean Pearl at the start of the Buckeye Lake Pacing Series at Scioto Downs on Friday night. The 3-year-old pacing filly did the rest as she backed down the middle half-mile, then sprinted away in the homestretch to win by seven lengths in 1:55, a new lifetime record. She is now unbeaten in five starts this season. Noble trains the On The Attack filly for Sandra S. Burnett of Wilmington, Ohio. Peeeeyouuuuuuu rallied from far back to claim second place while Pretty Blue Eyes, who had trailed Ocean Pearl from the start, held for third. Look Lyndsay, trained and driven by Jack Dailey, took the Fillies and Mares Open Pace in a tight finish over pacesetting Shell I Attack and the fast-closing What’s The Hurry. The time was 1:54.2. Driver Dailey kept Look Lyndsay in the second spot the whole mile until she rallied in the stretch for her sixth win in 11 starts. She’s owned by Edwin C. Price of Cincinnati. Scioto’s leading driver Dan Noble bagged four more wins on Friday night.

Cal Expo
Seven trotters, five in on a condition, two to be claimed, were featured for a purse of $3,900, on which Berkshire picked them up and laid them down in a race that shaped up nicely for him. Debuting for owner Jenn Petrelli and trained by husband Frank, a never urged much Berkshire drew clear late to win ($5.80) by two-lengths, in a seasonal best 1:58.2. Giles L S Hanover finished in second, and Putoneonnetformom, who never found racing room until just before the wire while having trot, finished one-length farther back, in third.

Saratoga Casino and Raceway
El Ringer continued his win streak on Friday night at Saratoga Casino and Raceway and his driver Jay Randall kept his hot streak alive on the thirteen race trotting heavy program. El Ringer moved his local record to three-for-three with a wire to wire 1:56 win for Randall. The victory served as the sixth in a row for the 5-year-old son of Artsplace as he came to town a month ago already a winner of three straight races at Thunder Ridge Raceway. El Ringer was the public’s even money favorite on Friday and cruised in front running fashion getting the best of second choice Moving Art (Dan Cappello Jr). El Ringer is owned by the House of Cards Racing Stable of Saratoga Springs and is trained by Margaret Spagnola. Randall also piloted another pair of winners on the night as trotters Kona (Dream Vacation) and CJD’s Wishbone (Movie Mogul) helped comprise the reinsman’s hat trick. Randall continued his recent hot streak on Friday after enjoying his biggest week of the season last week at the Spa.

Buffalo Raceway
The Grey Filly, a five-year-old Northern Luck roan mare, out of the Laag mare A Roan Again, won the $10,000 Filly and Mares Open Pace in a season’s best 1:56.1, for owner Sandra Beback, of Depew NY, here at Buffalo Raceway Friday night (June 3). It was the third win this season for The Grey Filly, who won for the 16th time, in 86 lifetime attempts. The Grey Filly ($10.00) leaving from post four, and driven by reinsman Chris Page, made every pole a winning one setting all the fractions in the race, :28.4, :58.1, and 1:27.3. A :28.3 last quarter-mile put the winner three-quarter lengths ahead of second place finisher An Original (Kevin Cummings) at the finish line. Pebble Run (Keith Kash, Jr.) came in third. Trained by Ron Beback, Jr., the $5,000 share of the winning purse put The Grey Filly’s seasons bankroll at $26,941 and $118,730 lifetime. In the $10,000 co-feature Open Trot, Catch That Yank, with driver Ray Fisher, Jr. in the sulky, also went wire to wire to win in a season’s best 2:00.1 for owner Howard Ouriel of Rochester NY. It was the third win this year for Catch That Yank ($13.40), who is trained by Rose Russo. The 5-year-old Yankee Glide gelding shot right to the lead from post four, and played catch me if you can, setting all the fractions, :28.2, :58.3, and 1:29.3. It was a close three-way photo at the finish line, which saw Bologna (Chris Page) a neck behind in second, and Trotslikethewind (Kevin Cummings) three-quarters of a length back in third.

Vernon Downs
The Saratoga ship-in Russ N Us finished like a whirlwind to capture Friday night’s $10,000 featured 10th race at Vernon Downs. Saving ground along the inside in fourth while How’d That Feel and, later the favorite, Scorpion Moon, took turns cutting out the mile, Russ N Us ($16.60) exploited a gap in the pylon path entering the homestretch and closed like a gate in the wind to defeat the oncoming Unshakeable by 3-1/2 lengths in the week’s Open-1 trotting contest. The 1:54.4 performance stands as one of the fastest of Vernon’s 20-card campaign, and it serves as a career-best win-mark for the 5-year-old son of Like A Prayer-Pine For, who is owned by the Scheigert Racing Stable. Claude Huckabone, III did the teaming for trainer Melissa Beckwith as the veteran bay gelding chalked up his sixth season’s score, 21st lifetime win and increased his career earnings to more than $142,000.
