Marcus Bi favored in Dexter Cup at Freehold

from Freehold Raceway

Freehold, NJ — Marcus Bi, with Daniel Dube, is the 3-1 morning line favorite in the 52nd edition of the $160,850 Dexter Cup at Freehold Raceway on Saturday (May 7).

Trained by Richard Bilach and leaving from post four, Marcus Bi is coming off three straight par-imutuel victories.

Ice Machine is listed at 7-2 and drew the rail in the first major prep race leading up to the Hambletonian.

Ray Schnittker has three chances with Winuendo (9-2), Whitewater Rapids (10-1), and Musclelaneous (8-1). Schnittker will also take the drive for Musclelaneous. He is looking to be the first trainer-driver to win this race since Bob Blanton, Jr. did it in 2001 with S J’s Caviar.

Jimmy Takter will be looking for his fourth Dexter Cup with Gordo Hall. Takter’s history goes back to his first winner in 1994 with Mr Lavec. He won the race again in 2008 with Holiday Credit and in 2009 with Anders Bluestone.

Jim Meittinis sends out Buzz Bomb who looks to get his career going with only one lifetime start under his belt. Justa Jersey Boy looks to get Paul Jessop his biggest win. Jessop has mainly trained pacers during his career.

With only eight horses entered in the Dexter there were no eliminations needed in this year’s edition.

Post time for Saturday’s 14-race card is set for 12:30 p.m.
