London, ON — The connections of iron horse Foiled Again are hoping the third time will prove the charm in the upcoming C$300,000 (est) Molson Pace, Western Fair Raceway’s signature race, which gets underway with eliminations on May 20 followed by the final the following Friday night, May 27.

Foiled Again has banked more than $2 million in his career.

This will mark the third time Foiled Again has competed in Western Fair’s richest race and he’s proven each time he’s stepped foot on the London, Ontario, half-miler that he’s one of the best to ever do so.

In 2009 Foiled Again captured his Molson Pace elimination for Jody Jamieson in 1:52.2. The pair were sent off as the heavy favorites in the final where they had no luck at all, were hopelessly boxed in with nowhere to go, and ended up fifth.

In the 2010 edition of the Molson Pace, Foiled Again led for most of the mile in his elimination and was caught close to the wire by Hypnotic Blue Chip to finish second. In the $293,280 final Yannick Gingras used Foiled Again’s terrific gate speed to grab contol and he led at every station and raced huge, only to be caught in the very last stride by his stablemate Won The West who won by a head in 1:52.2. That race may be watched by clicking here.

Foiled Again is among 32 pacers eligible for this year’s Molson Pace and perhaps it will be his turn to finally find the winner’s circle after so many close calls. He has certainly returned to the races in top form this year with four wins, a second and a third in six starts for $167,400 earned to date. He’ll race this Sunday in a $70,000 Open Pace at Harrah’s Chester.

In total Foiled Again has $2,180,208 on his card for trainer Ron Burke who co-owns with Weaver Bruscemi and JJK Stables. A victory in this year’s Molson Pace would up that number considerably.

Note that Western Fair will be offering a ‘super charged’ C$10,000 guaranteed pool on the late Win-4 on Molson Pace final night. The race sponsor, Molson, is also stepping up to make it bigger and better than previous years with details to follow shortly.
