Stalls are alloted for 2011 season at Running Aces

from Running Aces Harness Park

Columbus, MN — The stall allocation for the fourth season of live racing at Running Aces Harness Park in Minnesota has been announced and every one of the 240 available stalls at the sport’s newest facility have been awarded to a total of 27 trainers. A total of 51 trainers representing 476 horses applied, but only about half of the applicants could be accommodated on the grounds.

“Unfortunately, we just don’t have room to stable everyone that wants to race at Running Aces, so we try to reward those stables that have made substantial contributions to our racing program in the past, while adding just a couple new stables to the mix each season,” said Director of Racing Gregg Keidel. “The good news is that there are three county fairgrounds and three private farms with tracks within approximately an hour’s radius that have stalls available for rent. We are confident that those facilities and several other nearby turnout farms will attract additional racehorses to our available pool, so we have increased the quantity of ship-in stalls that will be available to insure that every horse that gets in to race will have a stall when it arrives.”

The barn area opens on Monday, May 9. Preseason qualifying races will be held on Wednesdays, May 18 and 25, and opening night is Tuesday, May 31. Trainers are reminded that every horse that comes to the stable gate must be accompanied by four required documents: a negative coggins test within one year, a negative equine piroplasmosis test within one year, an EHV-l vaccination within six months, and a health certificate dated within 10 days.
