Wambam Sam was a 1:50.4 winner on Monday in the Dover feature.

Daryl Bier did not move Wambam Sam until reaching the homestretch, then turned the Real Artist-Roses For Sammie gelding lose. The 4-year-old roared past the leaders, Three Of Spades (Jon Roberts), Jeremy’s Successor (Sean Bier) and race favorite Schoolkids (Pat Berry), in the stretch on the way to a 1:50.4 victory in the day’s top race. Jeremy’s Successor finished second with Schoolkids getting up for third.

Glenn Del Russo, Charlie Dombeck and trainer-driver Bier own Wambam Sam, a winner of six of 11 starts this year, good for earnings of $74,280 in 2011 and $279,973 lifetime.

Cams Art and David Miller had no trouble besting five rivals in a wire-to-wire, 1:50.1 conquest in the $32,500 Delaware Special. They had no trouble registering a lifetime record for the 4-year-old altered son of Cams Future-My Foolish Art bred and owned by Morgan and Jeanne McInnis and trained by their son, Ryan McInnis. Solano (Ron Pierce) was a solid second. Astounding Hanover (Tim Tetrick) took third money.

For Cams Art, it was his eighth win of the year in nine starts with one third. He has banked $85,600 in 2011 and $113,600 in his career.

Monticello Raceway
For many years at the Mighty M, Billy Parker, Jr. was nearly invincible, garnering 14 driving titles, although he hasn’t been king of the hill since 2004. Maybe the 57-year-old reinsmen is looking to again be on top.
On the Monday card he reined four winners on the 10-race program and in the process visited the winner’s circle enough times to find himself just one victory behind the recent perennial driving leader, Bruce Aldrich, Jr.
