Jackets Required is dressed for success

Toronto, ON — After going winless from six starts so far this season, Jackets Required will be looking to change his fortunes on Saturday night (March 5) in the single C$25,000 Cam Fella elimination at Woodbine Racetrack.

With a record of 0-4-1 this season and $36,056 in earnings, trainer Bob McIntosh is hoping that an equipment change will help his pupil’s chances of finding the winner’s circle.

Jackets Required will start Saturday in the Cam Fella elimination at Woodbine.

“He’s been knocking on the door lately,” McIntosh commented. “We switched him to a blind bridle, so hopefully that will help, as well. I would have liked to have drawn a little better (post eight), but we could have it tougher, too. It would be nice to win and pick our post position for the final.”

Jackets Required earned $105,516 last season as a 3-year-old despite missing the better part of the year due to throat surgery.

“He’s 4-years-old but he only has had 20 lifetime starts. I think he has the potential to be a top horse on the WEG circuit and maybe the Grand Circuit,” McIntosh said.

McIntosh has a great association with the family after training and co-owning Jackets Required’s sire, Allamerican Ingot, to more than $1.1 million in earnings. He also trained Jackets Required’s dam, Eve Of The Ball.

“They are similar,” he said. “Allamerican Ingot had fight in him and so does Jackets Required. Jackets Required will get better as the year goes on and will be even better next year.”

Driver Randy Waples will steer the homebred, owned by McIntosh and Al McIntosh Holdings Inc.

The Cam Fella elimination will go to post in race six with an approximate post time scheduled for 8:55 p.m. (EST).
