Christie vetoes internet wagering bill

from the USTA Communications Department

Columbus, OH — New Jersey Governor Chris Christie vetoed a measure that would have made New Jersey the first state in the country to legalize online gambling.

According to a story on www.nj.com, Christie cited “significant concerns” about the bill in his veto message.

The bill had passed the Assembly 63-11 and the Senate 35-2 in January. Proponents of the measure have said it would create thousands of jobs and bring in revenue for the state.
