Burke barn fills series finals at Meadowlands

from the Meadowlands Media Relations Department

East Rutherford, NJ — Trainer Ron Burke is represented in all five stakes finals to be raced this weekend at Meadowlands Racetrack. He gave the rundown on his 10 series contenders.

$49,000 Tender Loving Care–Race 3, Friday

Some Girls Do (post 1, head no. 1): “She had some steering issues last time that I think we have straightened out. She’s sharp right now and I like this spot very much.”

Hello Camie (post 6, head no. 1A): “What a pleasant surprise she’s been, an overachiever for sure. I think she’s in position to pick up horses late in the mile.”

$89,000 Cape & Cutter–Race 6, Friday

Red Star Hottie (post 2, head no. 1): “She’s been very good every start. If you look back at some of her lines, she’s sneakily been in some bad spots. But right now, she’s real good and I like the draw.”

Go On BB (post 8, head no. 1A): “We’ve had her since her second or third lifetime start. She’s past $1.1 million and has done it quietly. Definitely an overachiever.”

$64,200 Exit 16W–Race 5, Saturday

No Monkeys Allowed (no. 1): “A hard trying horse. I love this spot for the final. I expect him to get a lot out of post one.”

Meirs Hanover (no. 2): “This is a great spot for him, especially since Summer Camp drew post eight. I’m expecting a big performance from him this week.”

Rockin The House (no. 5): “He would have been competitive with some of these others but got behind a few weeks. I’m not sure what to expect from him in here.”

$78,000 Aquarius–Race 6, Saturday

Windsong Gorgeous (post 5, head no. 1): “Last time was the first time he raced badly, but he didn’t scope well after the race. I’m working on it and I think he’ll be better this week.”

Code Word (post 9, head no. 1A): “He’s getting better with each start. He is the sharpest training horse in the barn right now. Every week he seems to get better. If you look back at the race where they went :53.3 to the half, he had to be strangled to let St Elmo Hero go. I think we’d have been better off leaving him out there. This week, in the final, post nine is tough because it makes him one-dimensional.”

$68,000 Junior Trendsetter–Race 7, Saturday

I’m Feelin Good (no. 2): “We just bought him. He is brand new and I love the spot he’s in. And I’m very happy I got Brian Sears to drive him.”
