Hendler wins Meadowlands Woodbine Handicapping Challenge

East Rutherford, NJ — Tracy Hendler of Carteret, N.J., captured the grand prize and a seat in the National Harness Handicapping Championship at the 2011 Meadowlands Woodbine Challenge on Jan. 29.

The Meadowlands Woodbine Challenge required players to bet 10 races, including three races each from the Meadowlands and Woodbine. Wagers had to be meet a $10 minimum, $100 maximum per race and be win, place (or combination win/place) on one horse only.

Hendler built his $100 bankroll into $877, earning him $3,490 in prize money plus an $800 entry into the National Harness Handicapping Championship on July 9 at the Meadowlands. Hendler previously captured the 2008 Last Chance NHHC Qualifier. Runner-up William Meisel of Staten Island, N.Y., and third-place finisher Bob Kadane of Emerson, N.J., also earned seats in the 2011 NHHC.

Upcoming qualifiers for the 2011 NHHC include Meadowlands Racetrack (Feb. 19 and March 26), Buffalo Raceway (March 5, 12, 19, 26 and April 9), Maywood Park (March 25), Balmoral Park (March 26), Vernon Downs (April 30) and Tioga Downs (May 13).
