Robert McNair, 74, dies

London, ON — Long time Ontario horse owner and breeder Robert ‘Bob’ McNair, 74, died Jan. 18, 2011, at the Brucelea Haven in Walkerton, Ontario.

Mr. McNair and his wife Gwen were active in Standardbred racing for more than 40 years and raced and/or bred such good horses as Son Of Grace, Speed Galore, Graces Dream, Game William, GG Garney, GG Jake, GG Mickee and Regan Speed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Cheryl (Del) Neuman, Tracey (Don) Neuman and Gregg (Susie), one of Canada’s top trainers; four grandchildren Amy, Doug, Scott and Chantel, three of which, Amy, Doug and Scott, are all active in racing; sisters, Elaine, Wilma and Ruth; and sisters-in-law, Shirley and Elaine. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim and Doug; brothers-in-law, Gerald, Rayburn and Don; and parents, Gordon and Martha.

A celebration of his life will be held at Rob’s Sports Bar and Roadhouse, 120 Scott Street, Walkerton, Ontario, from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23.
