Ghee’s House got up by a nose in 1:53.2.

Blueridge Western opened a two-length lead into the lane, but Ghee’s House–extricating himself just in time–commenced the chase. He made up 2-1/2 lengths off the final turn, getting up by a nose in 1:53.2.

Dragon Island, Southwind Tabor (Stephane Bouchard) and Forensic Z Tam (Pat Lachance) completed the cashers.

For Ghee’s House, a 7-year-old son of Western Ideal leased by The Cheyenne Gang and trained by Robbie Siegelman, he returned $20 (fourth choice) for a winning 2011 premiere.

Dover Downs
A 45-1, 35-1, 29-1, 13-1 and 10-1 shot winner highlighted Saturday racing on Jan. 15 at Dover Downs. R I P Spanky led off the card with a 1:55.4 conquest at 13-1 odds with Corey Callahan driving for owner-trainer Art Brewer in a $9,500 4&5-year-old Mares pace. Eddie Davis Jr. completed the 7-8 daily double guiding Alan Pullman and Barry Glickstein’s homebred Occasionally Bad from far back to a 35-1 victory in a $7,500 Delaware Claiming Allowance.

Cal-Expo
A field of six conditioned pacers, racing for a $4,500 purse, were featured on Saturday night (January 15), on which Cycle Power paced to the fastest mile of the young Cal Expo season. Owned by trainer Nathalie Tremblay, Cycle Power stopped the timer at 1:52.3, a lifetime best. Red Star Ruffles closed from last to be second, and Haggin Oaks (James Kennedy) lost a nose photo for the place honors and had to settle for third.

Buffalo Raceway
Zackor, a 6-year old Sportsmaster gelding, out of the Storm Damage mare Rehab Job, won the $10,000 Open Pace in 2:00.1, for owner James M Dunn, of Hamburg NY at Buffalo Raceway Saturday night (January 15). It was the first win this season for Zackor, who had 11 tallies last year. Zackor ($10.20) leaving from post four, and driven by trainer-driver Ron Beback Jr., made every pole a winning one setting all the fractions in the race, :29.2, :59.1, and 1:30.1. A :30 last quarter-mile put the winner a nose ahead of second place finisher Compass Connection (Jim McNeight) at the finish line. Hope To Reign A (Jack Flanigen) came in third.
