Toronto, ON — With the new calendar year quickly approaching, driver Mark MacDonald will celebrate the second best season of his career.

The Cambridge, Ontario resident has earned more than C$8.8 million this season and more than C$63 million lifetime.

This past year he scored numerous stakes victories including the C$1.5 million North America Cup, the C$800,000 Fan Hanover Stake, the $240,000 Jugette, three C$300,000 OSS Super finals and a division of the C$247,000 Simcoe Stakes, just to name a few.

“This is the best of Mark MacDonald that’s ever been,” he commented. “I put way more thought into my driving, I’m very calm and relaxed on the racetrack. I work very hard at what I do, I have mental clarity and this is the best I can be and that’s all I could ever ask for.

“It was an amazing year,” MacDonald said when asked about this past year. “I was lucky and got to drive a lot of nice horses including Sportswriter winning the North America Cup. I’m really looking forward to next year, Western Silk will come back as an aged mare and it should be a really exciting summer.”

In today’s interview with WEG’s Media Department, MacDonald reflects on this past season and offers his thoughts on not being nominated for an O’Brien Award as Canada’s top driver.
