Thursday’s (Dec. 23) edition of Racing Roundup features a results story from The Meadows.

Personal Ad rallies to take Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Trailing by five lengths at the half, Personal Ad picked up live cover and roared through the stretch to capture Thursday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Aaron Merriman tipped Personal Ad off the cones to follow the first-over Don’t Blame Her, who gained ground on the leader, Idol, but tired late. Not so Personal Ad, who had plenty left to score in 1:54.

The race marked the return of Jans Luck following an 11-month layoff; she finished second by three-quarters of a length and the check she earned propelled her over $800,000 in career earnings. Sadies Place was a rallying third.

Kent Sherman trains Personal Ad, a 4-year-old daughter of Artiscape-Looknforagirllikeu, who now boasts $214,910 in lifetime earnings for Kor-Ans Stables.

Dave Palone drove six winners — three for trainer Ron Burke — on the 16-race card, which brought down the curtain on The Meadows’ 2010 season. Live racing resumes Monday, Jan. 3, with first post at 12:55 p.m.
