Washington, PA — The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association, in conjunction with The Meadows Racetrack & Casino, has announced eight special events to be contested over four days next week prior to Christmas.

From Dec. 20 through Dec. 23, each superfecta event (two races per day) will feature up to 12-horse fields. Given the fact that the track will close beginning Christmas Eve for a short break, this will allow more horses a chance to compete.

In addition to the posted purse, the MSOA will guarantee a $100 bonus to all horses finishing sixth through 12th in each of the superfecta races.

The Meadows Racetrack & Casino will be heavily promoting the unique large field supers, and with guaranteed $8,000 superfecta pools the events should draw attention from the wagering public, which will benefit the handle for those events.

“We think this is something well worth trying,” said MSOA President Rich Gillock. “It’s a chance for not only our horsemen to get horses raced at a time when we’ve got a lot of horses in the box every day, but also a chance to try something unique that should be a nice promotion to see if field size helps our handle.”

Post time for each card, Dec. 20 through 23, will be 12:55 p.m. Superfectas are carded as the seventh race and the final race of each day.
