Illinois slots vote could happen this week

from Harness Tracks of America

Tucson, AZ — Illinois state senator Terry Link, the Democrat who authored the slots-at-tracks legislation currently being discussed in committee, has told northwest Chicago’s Journal-Topics that he expects the bill — SB 3970 — to come out of committee Tuesday (Nov. 30) and go to a vote of the full Senate the same day or Wednesday (Dec. 1).

The bill being discussed includes up to 1,200 slot machines and video poker devices for each of Illinois’ six tracks, and circumvents local municipalities’ rights to prohibit them. It also provides for five casinos in the state.

The Journal-Topics provides local news to 13 heavily populated northwest suburbs of Chicago, from Arlington Heights to Wheeling.
