San Pail (Randy Waples) stopped the timer in 1:53.4 for trainer Rod Hughes and partner Glenn Van Kamp.

Define The World (Paul MacDonell) blasted to the lead from post two but would relinquish command to San Pail and driver Randy Waples past the opening panel in :27.

With just a five horse field, San Pail would then slow the pace with a :29 second-quarter as he led his rivals past the half in :56 and then three-quarters in 1:26.2. Rose Run Hooligan (Luc Ouellette), who was positioned third, would press the pace around the final turn as he went to the outside.

Down the stretch, pocket-sitter Define The World attacked San Pail but could not reach the son of San Pellegrino and had to settle for second with Merited Victory third. First-over attacker Rose Run Hooligan had to settle for fifth as San Pail stopped the timer in 1:53.4 for trainer Rod Hughes and partner Glenn Van Kamp.

“He’s a dream come true, he’s just a great horse. He hasn’t raced for some time but he’s a real gentleman and just goes out there and does his job,” Waples commented following the race.
