Grand Circuit Report: Week of November 21, 2010

This Week: The 2010 Grand Circuit season has concluded. The 2011 schedule will be announced in January.

Last time: Tim Tetrick won two of the four Grand Circuit stakes races this past Friday (Nov. 19) at Maywood Park in the final stop of the year for the traveling circuit. Tetrick captured the $116,700 Abe Lincoln for 2-year-old colt pacers with Mystic Desire and the $97,900 Galt Memorial for 3-year-old colt trotters behind Flex The Muscle.

Mystic Desire was a 14 length winner over Arockin Hanover (Marcus Miller) and Fox Valley Libero (Todd Warren) in a time of 1:52.4 in the Abe Lincoln, while Flex The Muscle scored in 1:56.3 in the Galt, holding off Flashback (Miller) by two lengths, with Waldorf Hall (John Campbell) third.

Doug McNair piloted Aracache Hanover to the victory in the $200,000 Windy City Pace for 3-year-old colts at Maywood, defeating heavily favored One More Laugh and Tetrick by a head in a time of 1:51.4. Stonebridge Tonic was third for Dave Magee.

The final Grand Circuit stake went to Marcus Miller and Wendy’s Dragon, who captured the $76,700 Cinderella for 3-year-old filly pacers in 1:56.2, stopping Fox Valley Oracle (Magee) and Like A Realist (Tetrick).

Grand Circuit Driving Standings: Tim Tetrick captured his first Grand Circuit driving championship, finishing the 2010 season with 34 victories. John Campbell finished in second place with 22 winners. David Miller, Ron Pierce and Brian Sears shared third place, each with 19 triumphs. Jim Morrill, Jr. wound up in sixth place with 18 winners. Yannick Gingras held down seventh place with 14 victories. Dave Palone was in eighth place with 13 triumphs. George Brennan ranked ninth with ten victories. Daniel Dube rounded out the top 10 with eight winners in 2010.
