Tiz To Dream making owners’ dreams come true

Melrose Park, IL — Canadian invader Tiz To Dream, the 7-5 morning line favorite in Friday’s (Nov. 19) $76,700 Cinderella Stake for 3-year-old pacing fillies at Maywood Park, has been a dream come true for owners Paul Kidd and Gregg McNair and the filly looks to have a big shot at adding to her gaudy totals when she faces five rivals in Friday’s third race.

Tiz To Dream comes into the Cinderella with six wins in 2010 and a season’s bankroll of $351,354.

“I took about 20 years off from the sport,” explained Kidd. “Before getting her the last time I had a license was 1990. This was definitely a good way to get back into the game. We really got lucky with her and it’s almost like we’ve hit the lotto with the numbers she’s put up in her two years of racing.”

The daughter of Grinfromeartoear-Extreme Dream, who was a $9,000 purchase at the 2008 Forest City yearling sale, comes to town sporting a record of 12 wins, four seconds and seven thirds in 32 lifetime starts with career earnings of $638,478. A multiple winner on the Ontario Sire Stakes circuit in both her 2- and 3-year-old seasons, Tiz To Dream owns a mark of 1:50.2 which was taken at Mohawk this season.

One of her best traits, according to owner-trainer McNair, is her early burst of speed away from the gate which makes her perfectly suited for the half-mile oval at Maywood Park. In fact, the biggest victory of her 2010 campaign came on the half-mile track at Grand River where she went wire-to-wire over a sloppy track while taking the $166,600 Ontario Sire Stake Gold Final.

“She’s come from the back a couple of times, but she still seems to like being up front the best,” said McNair.

Despite being a bargain buy as a yearling her co-owners liked the way the filly trained down right from the start.

“She’s a very nice mare,” said McNair. “She’s been good all along for us. You can tell that by the way we’ve aggressively staked her. She gets a lot of paddock time because she does have a little trouble with muscle soreness but other than that she’s been a dream for us.”
