Drew Campbell steered Lucky Strike for win number five on Sunday.

“When I looked at the program, I thought to myself, ‘I have a good shot of winning a few today,’ said Campbell. “Then after my fifth win, I thought I might be able beat my record of seven. Unfortunately, I hit a brick wall. But it was still a great day.”

The New England Sulky Championships were also contested at Scarborough Downs with four splits at $5,000 apiece in purse money.

Pembroke Champion (Heath Campbell) won the 3-year-old colt trotting division, Ella Bella (Ivan Davies) claimed the trophy for the 3-year-old filly trot division, Princess Of The Beach (David Crochere) raced supreme in a walkover in the 3-year-old filly pacing division and Pembroke Nick (Heath Campbell) added a New England Sulky Championship crown to his Sire Stakes crown secured just last week in the colt pacing division. This was his sixth consecutive stakes win, improving his 2010 record to 12 wins from 14 starts.

Scarborough Downs proudly features live harness racing every Friday, Saturday and Sunday with post time at 12:10 p.m.

Harrah’s Chester
It was a banner day for trainer Ron Burke and driver Yannick Gingras, as the two teamed up for four wins on the Sunday afternoon 12-race card at Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack.
Transcending ($18.60) was a tenacious winner for the Burke/Gingras pairing in the featured $28,000 Winners Over Pace, battling the Lou Peña-trained J A’s Outlaw (George Napolitano) up the backstretch en route to a :26.3 third quarter before ultimately prevailing by a half-length in 1:50.3. The 6-year-old son of Grinfromeartoear reeled off four straight wins against preferred company at the Meadows before today’s triumph. The two also teamed up with Or ($3.40), Lucky Bettor ($6.00) and Southern Allie ($3.00). Lucky Bettor stalked favorite Cinderella Guy through a vicious :25.4 first quarter and more relaxed fractions after that before pouncing in the open stretch, winning by a half-length in 1:49.4 in a $23,000 conditioned event. Southern Allie matched the day’s 1:49.4 speed mark, also from a pocket trip, angling two-wide at the head of the stretch to overtake Valentino before pulling clear by a handy three-quarters of a length in an $18,000 conditioned pace.

Saratoga Gaming and Raceway
Semjac Legacy, with Dan Cappello, Jr. in the sulky, captured Sunday’s featured race at Saratoga. Owned by Tracy Brainard and Andrew Herzog and trained by Tracy Brainard, the 4-year-old mare turned in a winning time of 1:54.4.
