Transcending stretches streak to 4

Washington, PA — Neither his rivals nor a three-week layoff could snap Transcending’s streak as he captured his fourth straight victory in Monday’s $22,500 Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Although Transcending had been off since Sept. 27, Dave Palone sent him confidently to the lead from post 7. From there, the 6-year-old son of Grinfromeartoear-Apopka Denise had few anxious moments, although Palone did have to rouse him in the stretch. He scored in 1:51, a neck better than the pocket-sitting Pedro Island, while Dark Lightning raced well first over for show.

Ron Burke trains Transcending, who has been on top at every pole save one during his streak, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, JJK Stables and Larry Karr. It was one Palone’s six wins — three for Burke — on the 15-race card.
