Rolland “Rod” Farrington, 86, dies

Columbus, OH — Rolland E. “Rod” Farrington, 86, of West Mansfield, Ohio, died Sept. 12, 2010, at his home.

He was born August 5, 1924 in Richwood to the late Louie and Frances (Linn) Farrington. He married the former Jean Eastman at their former home on Osborne Road and she survives in West Mansfield.

Mr. Farrington was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. A farmer all his life, he was also a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He loved motorcycles and could fix anything with an engine. He was also a member of the USTA.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Rhonda (Glen) Wright and their daughter, Ashley Wright and Barbara (Monty) Kilfian and their daughter, Tahnee (Bob) Hales, and their children, Keatin and Kennae Hales; stepson, Mark (Sabra) Kemp and their children, Noah Kemp and his son, Jackson James Kemp, and Logan (Alicia) Rife and their daughter, Kailee; stepdaughter, Joyce (Mike) Cameron and their son, Cole Cameron; brothers, Robert (Vivian) and Richard (Dorothy); sisters, Marilyn (Tom) Pugh and Sue (Floyd) Carpenter; and a sister-in-law, Pat Farrington. He was preceded in death by his stepson, Terry Kemp; granddaughter, Tonia Kilfian; and brother, Brad.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 17, at 10:30 a.m. in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood, with Pastor Jerry McQueen officiating. He will be buried in York Cemetery next to his mother. Military honors will be provided by Richwood Area Veterans. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23.
