Zeron eyes Peaceful Way

Campbellville, ON — Despite Lady Rainbow making an uncharacteristic break in stride in her Peaceful Way Stakes elimination last week, trainer/driver Rick Zeron remains optimistic that his charge can find the winner’s circle this Saturday (Sept. 18) at Mohawk Racetrack in the C$466,000 Peaceful Way Stakes final.

The daughter of Muscles Yankee made a break in stride as the field headed into the first turn in her eliminaton. Lady Rainbow was able to catch her rivals at the half and finished a very strong fourth; however, driver Brett Miller finished third with Celebrity Katie but violated the urging rule and was placed sixth allowing Zeron and Lady Rainbow to be placed third and advance to the lucrative final.

Lady Rainbow has been assigned post one for Zeron. Despite making just her fourth career start this Saturday, Zeron is looking for a big performance.

“She just has done everything that I have asked her to do, and do it very well. She doesn’t really stop anywhere in the mile,” Zeron told WEG’s media department. “She was in the sale last year in Kentucky (Lexington Selected Yearling Sale) and I bought her back for $40,000 because I value her at a whole lot more than that and she has proven to me that she is worthy of that. I’m looking for big things from her this weekend and if all goes well, we will be off to the Breeders Crown.”

Lady Rainbow has freshman earnings of $34,204 for Zeron along with The Camel Club Stable, Rojan Stables and Herbert W. Chambers.

Saturday is also customer appreciation night on behalf of Mohawk Racetrack. The first 2,000 fans will receive a complimentary slice of pizza and beverage.

Mohawk Racetrack will offer a guaranteed pool of C$50,000 on Saturday’s early Pick-4 as part of the festivities and fans who can’t make it to the track can watch live coverage of the C$1 million Canadian Trotting Classic during a one-hour special, from 9–10 p.m., on The Score.
